We built our home in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, on the north shore of Lake Travis. Just an hour outside of Austin, it keeps us close to our sons, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. And it is here, following retirement from high tech sales, management, and marketing, that I now spend most days in my wood shop, amid the collection of new and used tools I’ve amassed over the years.
Woodworking has always been an interest of mine. But, with the help of talented nearby friends and mentors, I began to hone my skills more seriously in 2011. Today, woodworking is an active passion and part of my everyday life.
Most of my work is handcrafted, functional art from local Texas Escarpment Cherry, Black Walnut, Live Oak, Cypress, and my favorite – Texas Mesquite. I design simple pieces with subtle finishes, highlighting the flaws and natural beauty God gave each piece, often keeping a live edge. My design consultant (my wife of more than 40 years, Louise) provides invaluable feedback, often reminding me not to take the inherent art out of pieces... and she adds a beautiful, hand-painted touch to select pieces, as well.
I'm humbled when someone thinks enough of my work to want to purchase it and make it part of their personal space. In return, I guarantee all of my pieces for life (my life). I appreciate your interest in my work and invite you to view more of it in my online gallery.
